The Pen is Mightier That the Sword

I chose this quote (said by Edward Bulwer-Lytton in 1839)Because I think it delivers a very inspiring message; there are better ways to solve or even just attempt to solve a problem that attacking it with a sword. This is important to me because in everyday life we run into a lot of dilemas, and some basic problems solving skills can be incredibly useful. Say you’re having a problem with some of your friends. If approach the situation with a razor-sharp sword in your hand your more likely to loose that friendship than you are if you approach it with a good attitude. It really surprised me when I first read this because it conveyed so much information and such a powerful moral for one single line of writing.

Fox Thematic Concepts Draft 1

Resilience is the word that I chose as the major thematic concept for the picture book Fox, by Margret Wild, illustrated by Ron Brook. I choose this word because I think it describes the actions and personalities of of most of the characters. Especially Magpie. This is because in the end after being dumped in he middle of the desert by Fox, she still has the determination and perseverance to trudge on and continue on the journey home. The is a little resilient too. Even though he was deceiving them he bounced back from being so kind a became quite evil.
